Two brothers dedicated the window display of their business to new world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua ahead of his victory over Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday night.

Jerry and Stephen Nolan, who run Nolan’s in High Street, Rickmansworth, both grew up on the Meriden estate where Joshua spent his formative years.

They kept track of his career as a youngster and watched him come through the ranks before achieving stardom by winning gold at the London Olympics in 2012.

Ahead of the much-anticipated title fight, the Nolan brothers decorated their shop window with memorabilia from the big man himself, including signed gloves and photographs.

“We did something in the window saying well done to him and that we were looking forward to the fight. We’re just so proud,” said Jerry.

“We got a big response in Rickmansworth. The community really got behind him. The way he talks - he’s charismatic, good looking. He’s a real Watford success story.

“We’ve got a hero now. He’s on that big stage now but he’s stayed true to his roots. There’s too much doom and gloom - let’s talk about success.”
