Cassio Productions Theatre Company will perform their latest production, Side by Side by Sondheim, at the Pump House Theatre in Lower Watford High Street.
The musical premiered in London in 1976 at the Mermaid Theatre in Blackfriars. The following year it was then taken to Broadway.
This revue-style entertainment celebrates musical theatre and film composer Stephen Sondheim. Moving from the sublime to the absurd this mix of music and lyrics, the songs are linked through Stephen Sondheim, but tied together in the production by the narrator - rather than being a musical mash up.
The original production was nominated for Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards, the Broadway production the following year was then nominated for Best Musical, as well as three other awards for members of the cast in both the Olivier Awards and Drama Desk Awards.
