A charity will be putting on an electrifying performance to challenge perceptions.

Learning disability charity Electric Umbrella have gathered 80 performers of all abilities will come together for their inaugural performance.

The Orchestra of Joy will be performing The Big Show at the Watford Palace Theatre at 7pm on Thursday, May 18.

Adults with learning disabilities will be playing with professional musicians to show audiences that there are no boundaries when it comes to performing music.

The group will be covering classic hits and performing original songs using invisible pianos, banana synthesisers and adapted violins in their biggest show yet.

Artistic Director and co-founder of Electric Umbrella Tom Billington said: “Of all the crazy things we have done, this is by far the craziest.

“80 people on stage together doing something on this scale is not something I ever dreamed we would be able to do.

“I have performed on some of the biggest stages in the world, and I have never been as excited about a show as this.”

The charity have been working across Hertfordshire for five years to challenge the way learning disabilities are perceived.

The Big Show comes in the wake of a promotional tour the group followed throughout April all 60 members of Electric Umbrella visited local day services, care homes, school and shopping centres performing to more than 1000 people in the county.

The show and tour have been funded by Watford Borough Council.
