A man in his 30s was left trapped inside the Lexus and fire crews were called to help release him.

He was treated at the scene by ambulance and air ambulance staff before being taken to Watford General Hospital. While his injuries are described as serious, it is thought they are not life-threatening.

The road was closed for a period so the casualty could be treated, so vehicles could to be recovered and for the scene to be investigated by officers from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit.

PC David Burstow, investigating the incident, said: “We are currently trying to establish the exact circumstances of the collision and would like speak to anyone who saw the incident but who has not yet spoken to us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Burstow on the police non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference number 185 of May 13.
