The virtual band Gorillaz have announced they will perform in St Albans next month for one of two 'warm up shows' ahead of their Humanz Tour and various festival appearances.

Their first performance of the summer will be at the Alban Arena on June 2, with tickets going on sale Friday, May 19, at 9am. Hopeful attendees will need to sign up before midday tomorrow, Thursday, May 18.

A week after their warm up shows in St Albans and Portsmouth the group will perform at their Demon Dayz Festival in Margate.

The virtual band, whose new album Humanz was released on April 28, were formed by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett in 1998.

They are best known for their singles Clint Eastwood released and Rock the House, both released in 2001.

The band consists of four animated members including  2-D, lead vocals and keyboards, Murdoc Niccals on the bass guitar, Noodle on both guitar and keyboards, and finally Russel Hobbs, drums and percussion.
