More than £30,000 has been raised so far at Peace Hospice Care’s Watford Colour Run.

Around 1,000 people got colourful during the course of the 5k fun run, held in Aldenham Country Park on Sunday.

As well as being pelted with colourful paint as they completed the route, participants waded through foam and were doused with water.

The day saw families, teams and local businesses coming together, all in support of the community-centred charity and hospice.

Jay Lenk-Smith, from Watford, completed his first colour run in memory of his grandmother who passed away at the hospice in January 2016.

He said: “My grandmother was in the hospice’s inpatient unit and my family and I are incredibly grateful for the care she received.

“This is my way of giving back to the charity by raising money for their wonderful care, and I can’t think of a better way to do it.”

Warner Bros Studios Leavesden supported the event, with managing director Dan Dark commenting: "Congratulations to the hospice on a fantastic event. It's wonderful to see so many people come together and have fun while raising much-needed funds."

Every year Peace Hospice Care needs £5 million to run and develop its services.

There are a variety of ways to get involved and help the hospice reach its target.
