Armed officers were involved in a pursuit which culminated in a man being arrested at Watford Junction train station.
The 30-year-old from Watford was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at around 12.30pm today (Monday) following the short pursuit, which included armed officers patrolling in the area.
The man is currently in police custody.
Chief Superintendent Matthew Nicholls said: “I understand that this pursuit, which included armed officers who are conducting patrols in the area following the terror attack in London on Saturday, may have caused some concern among the public.
“I would like to reassure you that this arrest is in no way linked to terrorism and that the man detained has been arrested in connection with shoplifting offences.”
