Cub scouts helped clear rubbish and a bucket of cement from a canal in Watford.

Chorleywood Scout Group assisted the Canal and River Trust to clear the path at Grand Union Canal, collecting 12 bags of rubbish and a bucket of set cement along the way.

Sarah Wright, from the Chorleywood Falcons Cub Scout pack, said: “The Cub Scouts love being out on the canal and getting stuck into a project and it’s great to know that what we do can make a difference.

"Canals are a lovely place to visit and relax and I hope local people come and visit the waterways to just take a moment or two to escape the busyness of everyday life.”

The scouts, who are all aged between eight and10, spent an evening clearing the canal and path in order to ensure the canal is a tidy place to be enjoyed by visitors.

Sonny King, from the Canal and River Trust, said: “The Cub Scouts have really made an improvement to this part of the canal and I hope local people notice the difference they’ve made.

"Together we’ve worked hard to ensure that local people have an amazing canal to visit throughout the year.”
