The unveiling of a park after months of improvements was a great success.

The Mary Forsdyke Garden and Warren Lake in Bushey Heath was attended by roughly 500 people on Sunday.

The park was closed in February to make improve the path network, install a boardwalk across the lake, desilt the water and plant a wildflower meadow.

The ribbon was cut by one of the children from the Warren Estate and was attended by Deputy Mayor Brenda Batten and Hertsmere MP Oliver Dowden.

The Warren Estate Residents’ Association worked together with Hertsmere Borough Council to undertake the works and hold the celebration.

Buono Italian Café had to make a second batch of pizzas to cater for the many people at the celebration, and other refreshments were provided by residents.

There was a wealth of activities for children including a kids’ disco, face painting, a bouncy castle and a balloon artist.

Chairman of the Warren Estate Residents Association Dr Raymond Coffer said: “We could not believe it.

“The kids loved it, everyone had a good time and the lake looked like a dream.

“We are delighted as it was a great way for people to start using the gardens and lake again.”
