The future of scouting in Watford has been secured thanks to “a great deal of hard work”.

The 6th North Watford Scout Group recently purchased the freehold to its headquarters in East Drive.

A plaque commemorating the purchase was officially unveiled by Cllr Rabi Martins - vice chairman of Watford Borough Council.

Andrew Saunders, group scout leader of the 6th North Watford, said: “This is the culmination of a great deal of hard work by many people to secure the freehold of our headquarters.

“This will enable us to continue to offer scouting adventures to children in our local area for many years to come.”

Dave Collette, Watford North district commissioner, added: “We are pleased that scouting is now secure at the 6th North Watford – having a familiar local place to meet is vital for our young people and volunteers.

“We have other groups who are also hoping to secure new leases very shortly, and hope to keep scouting growing and active in our local community for a very, very long time to come.”
