An event to help people keep registration plates safe will take place next weekend.
The Watford Safer Neighbourhood Team will be fitting tamperproof number plate screws free of charge between 10am and 1pm at the Dome Roundabout Sainsbury’s, in Cow Lane next Saturday.
The team will also be on hand to offer crime prevention advice and signing people up to OWL (Online Watch Link), a free messaging service that updates residents about crimes and incidents in the area.
PCSO Dominik Tokarczyk said: “Theft of car number plates can be hugely inconvenient and they can subsequently be used by criminals for offences such as bilking (stealing petrol) or evading speed camera fines. We’re urging as many people as possible to come along to the event and get their plates secured. It only takes a few minutes and it’s completely free.”
