Two doctor’s surgeries have been left without computer systems after moving buildings.

Both Attenborough Surgery, and Manor View Practice in London Road moved roughly 50 yards up the road to new premises and have had problems connecting to the internet.

The phone lines had reportedly been connected at the street cabinets, but had not been set up internally by BT.

This meant that when clinics opened at a new site today they were not able to access patients’ notes and could only deal with emergency calls.

The IT department at Attenborough Surgery managed to connect to an old server after 10am this morning, enabling doctors and nurses to continue seeing people.

Attenborough Surgery Practice Manager Karen Haines said: “Our computers were up and running but only because our IT engineers managed to get us up and running.

“BT had not ordered the parts they should have. We were told to expect problems and we have not been disappointed.

“A fantastic job was done by all the staff at the old and new centres to deal with the issue. We were working in our old premises on Friday and moved the whole surgery across over the weekend.”

The message for Manor View Practice states that they are only taking emergency calls.

It states: “Today is the first day of opening for the new Bushey Medical Centre.

“Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we currently have no clinical system in operation.

“This means we are only able to deal with emergency calls. If your call is not of an urgent nature please call the surgery tomorrow.

“We do apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your continued understanding.”

BT have been contacted for comment.
