Leaders of a health care group charged with finding multi-million pound savings were on hand to listen to public concerns tonight.

Chairman Dr Nicolas Small and Chief Executive Kathryn Magson of the Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group(HVCCG) held the 'Let's Talk' event at the Stanborough Centre, St Albans Road, Watford between 7pm and 9pm this evening.

The event was one of several evenings being held as part of a 10 week consultation being held until September 10 across Hertfordshire.

Healthwatch Hertfordshire Chairman Geoff Brooks coordinated the run of events, starting with presentations from the health executives, which was followed by some questions and the audience dividing into groups to find solutions to the cuts which need to be made, followed by more questions to finish.

Among controversial topics discussed was the closure of Nascot Lawn Respite Centre, the only centre which disabled children with high medical need can be left at to give their parents who act as full-time carers a break.

A full report of the meeting will be published tomorrow.
