Teething problems at the newly-opened Cassiobury Park paddling pools are being fixed as a result of feedback from members of the public.

Some visitors to the pools have complained about an unmarked step which they say provides a potentially dangerous “trip hazard”.

Others cited a lack of shade near the pools as an area where Watford Borough Council could improve the user experience.

However the feedback has seemingly been taken on board by the council, with changes already in the pipeline - among them the marking of the aforementioned step with a “bold line of dots so it is clearly visible to pool users”.

A number of parasols have also been ordered to provide families with some respite from the summer sun.

Deputy mayor Cllr Peter Taylor said:  “Our new paddling pools are already proving a big hit with the local community and thousands of people, including lots of families, have already enjoyed a visit.

“We always listen to feedback from our residents and so we’re delighted to announce that 10 new parasols are being installed next week to give people that extra bit of shade on sunny days.

“Overall, we are thrilled with how well the new paddling pools, café and the hub have gone down with our community, and are looking forward to a busy summer in our award-winning Cassiobury Park, which also has live entertainment at the big bandstand every Sunday afternoon, as well as great play areas and spaces to relax and enjoy.”
