Croxley Green Parish Council lowered its flag to half-mast this week in memory of a councillor who died while on holiday.

A funeral was held for Cllr David Wynne-Jones yesterday at All Saints Church, in Croxley Green, after he died in France during the third weekend of July.

He had served as Chairman of the Environment and Amenity committee and also represented Croxley Green Parish Council at the Environmental Forum at Three Rivers.

Cllr Wynne-Jones, who lived in the village for 60 years and joined the council in 1998, had a strong interest in the environment and had been in charge of the Croxley Green Bird-Box Trail.

A statement posted on the Croxley Green Parish Council website stated he would be “sadly missed”.

It said: “This week we have been flying our flag at half-mast in memory of Cllr David Wynne-Jones whom sadly passed away last weekend whilst holidaying in France.

“David was the instigator of the newly formed Croxley Green Bird-Box Trail and could always be found supporting Parish Council events in the community.

“Cllr Wynne-Jones was Croxley Green through and through having lived in the village for more than 60 years and was well known by many in our community. He shall be remembered and sadly missed.”
