A North Watford property linked to drug use will be closed for an extended period of time following a successful police application.

The original three-month order for the home in Rushton Avenue was granted by St Albans magistrates back in May after a quantity of suspected Class A drugs was recovered during a raid.

Following a number of serious complaints from neighbours about the property, Hertfordshire Constabulary worked in partnership with Watford Community Housing Trust to gather supporting evidence and get the order in place.

The order, which prohibits anyone from entering the property, has now been extended until November 2017. Anyone who breaches it can be arrested.

PC Nicola Simons, from the Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This operation has been well-coordinated between police and partners, and I am pleased we have been successful in getting the order extended. I hope it sends out a strong message that anti-social behaviour and drug misuse will not be tolerated in Watford.”

Amy Dalton, Senior Anti-Social Behaviour and Fraud Officer at Watford Community Housing Trust said: “We are committed to working with our partners to take action on anti-social behaviour in Watford’s residential areas and improve the quality of life for those living there.

“We are pleased that this partnership work has resulted in the order being extended for a further three months.”

Four people were arrested during the warrant on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. They were:

  • A 21-year-old man from Edgware who has been released under investigation.
  • An 18-year-old man from Stanmore who has been released under investigation.
  • A 33-year-old woman from Watford who has been released under investigation.
  • A 28-year-old woman of no fixed address who has been released with no further action.
