A museum is taking part in the largest national festival of history and culture next month.

The Bushey Museum and Art Gallery in Rudolph Road will be celebrating heritage, community and history of the area as part of Heritage Open Days between 7 and 10 September.

Items not normally on shown to the public will be on display on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10, September.

Special tours of the village will also be taken of the village to celebrate the artistic heritage of the area.

The museum is currently home to a temporary exhibition on abstract art, as well as the more permanent displays of horse painter Lucy Kemp-Welch and the art school of Sir Hubert von Herkomer.

Last year the museum was voted the best museum in the South East of England by the tourist board, and won the Hidden Gem award by Visit England.

Bookings for the special event will start at 10am on Wednesday, August 30, and the museum is open between 11am and 4pm, Thursday to Sunday.
