The Mayor of Watford has taken action to remove a skip left abandoned outside a home.

Dorothy Thornhill has written to the chief executive of Hertfordshire County Council after Anyskips Ltd failed to pick up the skip from the property of Raymond Hutchinson, in Harwoods Road, Watford.

Mayor Thornhill was concerned it would remain in the street for “some time”.

She said: “I was contacted by a resident on Harwoods Road who had hired a skip from Anyskips Ltd.

“This one could be stuck on Harwoods Road for some time unless Herts County Council as the Highway Authority take action. It’s blocking a parking bay and residents are worried that it will attract dumping too.

“I’ve written to the chief executive of Herts County Council asking for the County to use all powers at their disposal to remove these skips from public highways. If one of these skips is left on your street, please do get in touch.”
