A former Dambusters bomb-testing site is opening its doors to the public as part of a heritage celebration.
The BRE site in Bucknalls Lane, Garston, will be opening its doors as part of the national Heritage Open Days, as it once housed some of the test labs which developed the Dambusters' famous bouncing bomb.
Enthusiasts will be treated to talks and presentations over the Dambusters raids and about a flying bomber which crashed on the site in 1943.
As well as testing explosives during the war, the site also was home to a 19th century mansion named "Bucknalls" and has, more recently, been used as a site for film and television filming.
To celebrate the site's heritage there will also be a family fun day with a bouncy castle, in honour of the Dambusters' bomb, and picnics for all the family.
