A writer from Watford has been nominated for a national award.

Melanie Silver, an award-winning copywriter, has been shortlisted in the business service category of the Business Woman of the Year Award 2017.

After a successful career in marketing for well-known companies such as DHL and Forte Hotels, she set up her own copywriting company in 1996 called Words etc Limited.

For the past 21 years, Melanie has helped local and national businesses grow by writing website content, magazine articles and case studies that help them strengthen customer relationships and sell their products or services.

Melanie said: “I am thrilled to be among the finalists for the Best Business Woman title.

“It would be wonderful to bring home the trophy but I know there are several worthy contenders so even being shortlisted is an achievement in itself.”

A past winner of numerous industry accolades, including a PR Week Award and several Communicators in Business Awards, Melanie now hopes to add another trophy to her collection and make her three children proud.

The Business Women Awards are designed to recognise the achievement of women across a wide range of business categories and are open to any female business owner nationwide.

The gala final of the Best Business Women Awards will be held on Thursday, October 12, at Tewin Bury Farm, Welwyn, where the winners will be announced.
