Security is key as a free tool marking event is to be held to help keep property safe.
The event will take place in the Manor Lodge car park at the rear of Abbots Langley police station on September 30, with officers of the safer neighbourhood team on hand to give crime prevention advice between 12 and 2pm.
Marking tools makes them less attractive to thieves are harder to sell on, and those marked on the day will also be registered to a free online database to help police reunite people with the property if it is recovered.
PCSO Abigail Watson said: "Unfortunately we have seen a rise in thefts from vehicles across Three Rivers in recent weeks, with tools in particular being stolen.
"We are working hard to tackle this and would encourage people to help us by getting their tools engraved to make them less attractive to thieves.
"The service is quick and completely free; you don’t need to make an appointment, just turn up. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible on the day."
If you would like to get your tools marked but cannot attend the event, please contact SNTAbbotsLangley@herts.pnn.police.uk
