Residents and staff celebrated a housing association’s 10th birthday on Saturday with an outdoor community festival.

The free event was hosted by Watford Community Housing at Watford’s Meriden estate and brought together a wide range of Hertfordshire organisations, showcasing great local talent in all its forms.

There was locally-made Caribbean food, homemade jewellery, martial arts performances from Leventis Tae Kwon Do, and dancers from Lorraine’s School of Dance, as well as presentations from Hertfordshire Constabulary, among others.

Some brave locals also abseiled down the Munden View tower block in aid of the Peace Hospice.

Even with the sudden burst of autumnal weather, the day was deemed a great success.

Amy Willcox-Smith, customer experience and engagement manager at Watford Community Housing, said: “We had a great time at our community festival and we’d like to thank everyone who came down for such an amazing, positive day.

“The best part of it was that there was a real sense of community spirit, which was so important to us in celebrating our 10th birthday.

“I’d also like to thank all our contractors, stallholders and staff, who did such a great job of making our community event the best one ever – even with the rain.”
