An artist is exhibiting work he created during an enforced stay at a mental health unit in a bid to raise awareness about World Mental Health Day.

Stephen Bunce is displaying his artwork at Watersmeet, in High Street, Rickmansworth, from Wednesday, October 4 to Monday, October 30, as part of a “special event” hosted by Artistsmeet and the Hertfordshire Mind charity.

The driving force behind Mr Bunce’s body of work stems from him experiencing “pure insight and clarity” since his psychological collapse, which led to an enforced stay at a mental health in-patient unit in Radlett.

He began to produce art work using nothing but a biro as a route to recovery.

Whilst in the unit, Mind staff recognised his talents and encouraged him both on the ward and at discharge, to exhibit his work in order to inspire others.

During the opening reception evening, which will take place at Watersmeet on Tuesday, October 10 at 6pm, Mr Bunce will offer a visual guide to the reasons behind his development with regard to knowing what he likes, needs and wants in order to successfully blend all three with the medium of ink.
