A dame and disabled rights activists will be hitting a nightclub to raise money for charity.

Dame Esther Rantzen will be hosting a fundraiser for disabled children at PRYZM on Friday, September 29.

The gala dinner will be in honour of the Watford-based charity DEMAND (Design and Manufacture for Disability) which helps with designs for children and adults.

The TV celebrity is a patron of the charity and will be hosting an evening of fine wine and dining for guests.

Money raised from the event will go towards helping many people, including three-year-old Darcey who lives with cerebral palsy due to her premature birth.

Thanks to the organisation Darcey has been given a custom made handrail to fit on a treadmill to help her to learn to walk independently, as well as access to therapy, education and sporting activities.

Fundraising Manager at DEMAND Denise Gillies said: “We are thrilled that our patron Dame Esther Rantzen is hosting the Grand Gala.

“Guests will enjoy fine food and celebrate the incredible things people have been able to achieve with the help of custom made disability equipment.

“Our work helping over 4000 people last year was made possible thanks only to the generous donations of our supporters.

“With support of our Grand Gala guests this year we hope to raise funds to help the people on our waiting list access the custom equipment they need to live life their way.”
