A car dealership in Watford could be relocated to make way for two blocks of flats.
Plans to move both the showroom and car park at Palmers Fiat in St John’s Road to larger premises are currently being prepared, which could potentially free up a large brownfield site in the centre of the town.
Real estate company St Albans Road Ltd is currently in consultation with Watford Borough Council over the construction of 92 apartments spread over two towers – one on each section of the site.
Early plans suggest the two buildings will reach heights of eight and nine storeys, and operate as a “car free” scheme with no parking spaces and just one cycle storage space per property, owing to their close proximity to public transport links.
A public exhibition of the plans was recently held ahead of the submission of a formal planning application.
