More charging points for electric cars may come to Watford as the council asks for the public's opinions.

A consultation has been launched on plans to install 10 new electric car charging points across the town and want the public to help them find the ideal locations, and give their views on the locations already being considered.

The areas currently being considered include Essex Road, Durban Road East, Granville Road and Victoria Road in North Watford, with these having new 'fast chargers' meaning a car will be ready to hit the road after three to four hours.

Cllr Iain Sharpe, who manages regeneration and development for Watford Borough Council, said: "We know that many Watford residents have already embraced the e-car revolution and we are keen to widen this opportunity to others.

"We also know charging can be an issue where people don’t have their own driveway with access to electricity so this is a great way to make electric car ownership a possibility for more local people.

"The greater number of easy-to-get to charging points, the more choice people have to make a decision which has a really positive impact on our local environment. But we are keen to get it right, and that’s why we want to know what you think."

The online consultation closes on Sunday so visit www.pclconsult.co.uk/watford for more information and to submit your views.
