Former football stars Tony Gale and Tony Cottee joined 40 other golfers for a charity golf day in aid of Action for Children at The Grove in Watford last week.

Also in attendance was actor Stephen Marcus - most famous for his role as Nick the Greek in “Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”, plus many amateur players from the advertising, construction and insurance sectors.

After a warm-up on the driving range, the stars of screen, pitch and industry took on one of Europe’s finest 18-hole courses before coming together in the clubhouse for a BBQ dinner, award presentation and charity auction.

With teams from Price Forbes & Partners, Overbury, Clear Channel, Unilad, the Met Police and others, it is hoped the event will raise more than £10,000 for Action for Children, which helps improve the lives of 370,000 children, young people and families every year.

The charity’s fundraising manager Laurena Di Bello said: “What an incredible day. Thanks to everyone who came and had fun, and for raising such a fantastic amount to help us continue our vital work.”
