A councillor is unhappy that a “dangerous, rough and leaning” concrete bollard - smashed to reveal rusty metal rods within - has still not been fixed despite being reported several months ago.

Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst reported the broken bollard, which is located opposite a heavily-used pedestrian crossing in Vicarage Road, Watford, to Hertfordshire County Council back in August.

Council highways contractor Ringway examined the fault and passed it onto the council’s New Roads and Street Works team, which took no further action.

The job is listed as “closed” on the council website.

Cllr Giles-Medhurst said: “I am surprised that county have not acted on this rough, broken concrete post with its rusty metal sticking out.

“When I first reported in August, it had clearly been like this for some time. It's right in front of the pedestrian crossing to the hospital and needs to be removed as soon as possible.

“It’s unhelpful for one county department to push the issue to another and do nothing – it’s a safety risk if someone tripped on it. Perhaps county think that's ok because the hospital is just across the road.”
