The country’s largest timber merchant is coming to town to set up home for its north London Depot.

Materials business Arnold Laver has refurbished a warehouse in Chester Road in the Hertsmere Industrial Park in a £1.5 million investment that has brought 12 new jobs to the area.

There are plans to recruit more employees in Borehamwood as the site continues to grow, who will join the 700 people employed in the company’s timber division.

The 30,000 square-foot depot which sits within a three acre premises will be used as a storage and distribution facility with offices and meeting rooms on site and a showroom displaying the company’s products.

The trader has another 12 depots located strategically throughout England that supply products to customers across the UK with a fleet of more than 150 vehicles.

Arnold Laver’s Regional Director Martin Pearse said: “We’re delighted to expand into Borehamwood which gives us a strong foothold in North London and offers easy access to the A1, M1 and M25, as well as complementing our existing depots to the East and West of London, in Rainham and Reading.

“There’s nothing else in the area on this scale, with such a vast product range. This depot will hold approximately £1million worth of stock and has been specifically designed around the customers it’s serving, incorporating all the best features from our 12 other sites.

“This has enabled us to create a highly efficient warehouse facility with guided rail picking and seven-metre-high racking, a large collection area that’s easily accessible for all types of commercial vehicles and an impressive showroom where customers can view products.”
