Commuters were severely delayed last night after a trespasser got onto train tracks near Apsley.

Services running between London Euston and Watford Junction were held from around 5pm on Wednesday while the trespasser was located.

British Transport Police were called at 5.11pm to reports of an incident near the line but, after conducting a full search of the area, nobody was found.

All Euston lines were reopened at around 6pm but the disruption continued due to the long backlog of trains which needed clearing.

Disruption was felt on the Watford Junction to Milton Keynes service until it stopped running for the evening.
