Commuters will be able to air their grievances with the railway at an upcoming meeting.

The public event will be chaired by MP for Hertsmere Oliver Dowden with senior executives from Govia Thameslink Railway and Network Rail.

The meeting will be held at 7pm on Thursday, November 2 in the Council Chamber in the Civic Offices in Elstree Way, Borehamwood.

The session will review whether passengers complaints had been addressed since the last session Mr Dowden held to discuss rail issues in March 2016.

Mr Dowden said: “Many of my constituents remain unsatisfied with the level of service offered by Thameslink to and from London.

“I commute on the line everyday and know first-hand the frustration caused by over-crowded trains, delays and cancellations which are often at little or no notice.

“That’s why I’m hosting a second public meeting with executives from Govia Thameslink Railway and Network Rail so that passengers from Hertsmere can raise their concerns directly with them.

“I hope anyone in the Borough who has concerns about the operation of the line will attend and make their voice heard.”

At the previous session, Thameslink came under fire from commuters for constant delays, cancelled trains and a lack of space on commuter trains.

Many delays were caused by the development undertaken at London Bridge station, which is due to finish in December.

At the meeting Passenger Services Director for Thameslink Stuart Cheshire advised that improvements to the service were in the pipeline.

He said: “There will be good improvements and reliability to our service over the next two and a half years.

“In 12 months there will be little difference to the service that is available now.

“By 2018, there will be better infrastructure, new trains and a better service.”
