Two teams travelled to take part in a sporting challenge championing people with disabilities.

The Visually Impaired Club and the Borehamwood branch of Mencap sent teams to the annual Disability Games at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore on Sunday, October 15.

Activities including darts, quoits, new age curling, table tennis and a wheelchair slalom were held to engage all participants.

The event was organised by Rotary Governor for district 1130 Scott McLachlan and Elstree and Borehamwood president Sasha Capocci arranged for the town’s teams to take part.

Tesco’s community outreach coordinator Marion Joyce provided water for all contestants and helpers.

A raffle was arranged by Cllr Pat Strack and £150 was raised for Wheel Power, a charity supporting British wheelchair sports.
