Concerns have been raised that plans to build two ‘unacceptable’ bungalows may disturb neighbouring homes in a road.

Neighbours gathered at a Three Rivers District Council planning committee meeting on Thursday, October 19, to object the proposals for numbers 1 to 6 Clovers Court, in Quickley Lane, Chorleywood.

Two detached chalet bungalows may be built if approved, with alterations being made to land levels and the existing parking areas in the road.

Andrew Neale, who lives in Rendlesham Way overlooking the site, spoke during the meeting and mentioned it was not the first time an application has been put forward for the site.

He criticised the new amendments for the bungalows - which had been made following an appeal decision on September 29 2016 - and called them “unacceptable to the residents seeking to prevent further overdevelopment”.

Mr Neale said: “The inspector gave permission for two bungalows, definitely not chalet bungalows. The inspector imposed conditions to maintain the garages and restrictions on extensions, changes to roof and no dormer windows, stating clearly that these were imposed in the interests of the living conditions of the neighbours.

“The garage has been replaced with a study or third bedroom and a fourth bedroom may be created from the dressing room.

“This means more occupants requiring greater amenity space and with more cars to be parked in the “courtyard”. This will be to the detriment of all in Clovers Court as well as neighbouring roads receiving the over-flow.”

Three Rivers District Council confirmed a decision was “deferred for a site visit”, so were unable to provide a comment.
