Crowds gathered to pay their respects to soldiers who have lost their lives in conflicts around the world.

Wreaths were laid and a two minute silence was held at Holy Trinity Church in Bushey Mill Lane and Bushey War Memorial, in Bushey, on Sunday.

Hertsmere's Deputy Mayor, Cllr Brenda Batten and Deputy Consort, Mr John Batten were also in attendance to honour the fallen heroes.

Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill and vice chairman Councillor Rabi Martins also lead the annual Remembrance Sunday ceremony at the Town Hall Peace Memorial outside the Town Hall in Watford, on Sunday morning.

Remembrance Sunday traditionally commemorates the members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty during the First World War.

It is marked every year on the nearest Sunday to November 11 and now also honours millions of soldiers who have died in other wars and battles in the past century.
