It’s that time of year when we all look forward to receiving presents for Christmas, but not everyone is that lucky.

The Rotary Club sends shoe boxes filled with gifts to different countries around the world. The Rotary Club of Watford sends its to Romania and Kenya.

Where does the club get all the gifts it sends? From children in our local schools and their parents.

This year Longwood School in Bushey and Holy Rood Primary School in Watford have yet again dug deep and between them filled more than 165 shoe boxes with all sorts of gifts. They include toys, warm hats and gloves, toiletries and household items.

David Silverston of Watford Rotary said: "You may not think these gifts amount to much, but for people who have absolutely nothing these gifts are priceless. The children have excelled this year, not only by filling their boxes but also beautifully decorating them.

"Any schools who would like to participate in this annual project, just contact The Rotary Club of Watford. Help us put smiles on many more faces."
