A folk dance group which recently celebrated its 95th anniversary is now looking for new members.

Watford Folk Dance Group members meet every Monday from 8pm to 10pm to enjoy English country dancing with guidance of guest callers in Christ Church Hall, St Albans Road, Watford.

The guest callers lead the group through dances from the 17th century to the present day.

The group is affiliated to the Hertfordshire Folk Association and the English Folk Dance and Song Society.

A partner is not necessary and no special dress is required, as everyone is welcome to join.

At the end of September, the dancers enjoyed a varied programme with choices of dance ranging from Old English Playford to American Contra to celebrate running for nearly 100 years.

The evening was full of snacks the members had contributed to the evening, along with a celebration cake dedicated to two of the group’s previous leaders, Joan Franklin and Ivan MacKenzie, who joined in the 1940s.
