Drivers are being warned to be careful on the roads this morning following outbreaks of sleet.

The Met Office has predicted wet snow could fall until this evening, but it will ease with drier and brighter conditions to follow.

Temperatures are expected to also drop to -2C tonight but the sun should reappear by Thursday and the brisk winds should ease.

Traffic

The M1 London bound exit slip road is currently closed and there is slow traffic due to a broken down vehicle at J6 A405 in North Watford and Bricketwood. There is no exit on the M1southbound at J6.

Another broken down vehicle was causing slow traffic on J22 A1081 and B556 near St Albans at the Bell Roundabout and London Colney.

Hertfordshire Highways tweeted that gritters were out at 4am this morning and will head out again to ensure the main roads are salted.

Some trains at Watford Junction were delayed this morning so commuters are advised to check services are running normally before they travel.

The Metropolitan Line has good service but people are advised to check their route beforehand.
