Liberal Democrat leader Sir Vince Cable was in Watford this afternoon to take a tour of the Intu shopping centre development.

He was accompanied by deputy Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, for the hour long visit.

Following the tour, Sir Vince said he was pleased to be back in Watford and is “confident” that the party can challenge once again in the parliamentary elections and get back to where they were in 2010.

Sir Vince paid tribute to the outgoing Mayor, Dorothy Thornhill, who has served in her role for 16 years, and he believes that Mrs Thornhill’s work will put Cllr Taylor in good stead in the upcoming mayoral elections.

An in-depth interview with Sir Vince will be on the Observer website tomorrow.
