Hundreds took to the streets in an annual parade to celebrate the prophet Muhammed’s birthday.

Around 300 people walked through the streets of Watford for the seventh year running.

They were joined by Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill, deputy Mayor Cllr Peter Taylor, and chairman of Watford Council Cllr Jagtar Singh.

The Milad parade involved singing and chanting while chocolates were handed out.

Mrs Thornhill said: “Volunteers are the heart of our town and the fact that people volunteer, there is goodness. Whatever our belief is, we all believe in goodness.”

Cllr Singh expressed his “pride” in joining his Muslim friends along the procession.
