As the opposition leader at County Hall I pressed for a debate and got agreement for a review of traffic arrangements at the Dome roundabout.
This followed a Lib Dem petition collected by Ian Stotesbury that ensured we had a debate at the Highways Panel back in September and then a site visit in November to identify possible changes - not enough in my view!
Having fought an uphill struggle to get the Conservative-run county council to agree to this, I was curious to see the Conservative Mayoral candidate claim that the MP “has been in regular contact worth Highways over the Dome roundabout”.
So I asked officers if Mr Harrington had been in contact with the County Council over the last seven months on this. The reply from the assistant director was clear “there have been no recorded enquires from Richard Harrington”.
So it seems the Conservatives in Watford leave it to the Lib Dems to do the hard work on local issues then try to claim credit.
