The registration deadline for a charity dance competition is fast approaching, with organisers urging prospective participants to sign up quickly.

Peace Hospice Care, based in Peace Drive, Watford, is hosting the annual ‘Strictly Come Hospice’ event, with the chance to dance in front of 500 people and a panel of expert judges on offer.

Those taking part will also benefit from seven weeks of dance lessons at the YMCA Watford, which will be led by professionals from Paul Alex Dance Studios.

The final performances will be held Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth on March 16.

Garritt Brown, inpatient unit nurse at Peace Hospice Care, is one of those to have signed up after getting involved at the hospice.

He said: “I find working there incredibly rewarding. Every day the inpatient unit team care for and support patients and their families who are going through a very difficult time. I feel lucky to be part of such an inspirational team.”

He is joined by Sarah-Jane Webb, community services team co-ordinator at the hospice, who explained how it relies on generous support from the public.

She said: “Every year the hospice needs £5 million to run and deliver its services and we want to do our part to help raise these vital funds to ensure that it can continue helping the local community in years to come.”

Places are limited and both couples, including same-sex couples, and individuals can register.

If you register as an individual, the hospice will pair you up with others who have also registered individually.

Registration closes on January 26. To register your place, email events@peacehospicecare.org.uk or call 01923 335 373.
