A charity helping dogs in need celebrated raising £250,000 this month after a selection of unusual items were donated by the public.
Some of the donations given to the Dogs Trust charity shop, in Shire Lane, Chorleywood, included a Formula One tyre used by racing driver Nigel Mansell, along with a dominatrix outfit, bed pans and even some ukuleles.
Manager Nick Jenner, said the eight volunteers who work at the shop welcome “strange” items being handed in.
He said: “It’s fair to say we have had some really strange donations into the shop but we really appreciate that people think of us - despite how unusual the items may be.
“Since opening in 2014 we have really become part of the community and attended many local events that have raised over £17, 000 all on their own.
“Chorleywood really has welcomed us with open arms.”
