A robber armed with a suspected handgun threatened staff at a pharmacy before stealing items from the shop.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident in Park Pharmacy in Garston Park Parade, Watford, on Saturday, January 20.

Officers responded to an alarm at 10.30am that a man had entered and demanded goods from behind the counter.

He threated staff with what is believed to be a handgun before making off with property from the shop and leaving in the direction of St Albans Road.

Detective Sergeant Chris Parperi, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, added that a man was also seen in the area riding a children’s scooter.

He said: “Fortunately no one was hurt during this incident however the staff were understandably left feeling shaken.

“The shopping parade would have been busy this morning and it is likely that someone would have seen the incident or seen the man coming or going from the pharmacy. In particular a man was seen in the area nearby riding a children’s scooter.

“I would appeal to this man or anyone else who saw anything suspicious to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 227 of January 20, or report information online at www.herts.police.uk/report.
