A Rotary Club supporter who has gone “beyond the norms” was awarded special recognition at a sponsors’ dinner.

Andrew Wakeford, who heads up the catering at West Herts College, was given the coveted Paul Harris Award at the event.

The Sponsors’ Dinner, which was held at Andrew’s stomping ground in Hempstead Road, applauds those who have made substantial donations to the Watford branch.

The Club uses this money to support various organisations, with the Paul Harris Award given to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to its charitable and humanitarian programmes.

Watford Rotary president Fiona Daly said: “Andrew has gone beyond the norms in helping Rotary organise fund raising dinners and socials, nothing is too much for him and his contribution has helped enormously in making our events go smoothly.

“Watford Rotary wanted to show how grateful it was and decided to award him the Paul Harris Award, one of the highest award’s Rotary can give, in recognition for all his hard work.”
