Roadworks caused 60 minute delays this morning, and disruption is expected to continue until the end of the week.
Emergency gas repairs are being carried out in London Road, Bushey, at the junction of Merry Hill Road, with four way lights in place.
The repairs are scheduled to finish by February 2.
The roadworks have had a huge knock-on effect in Bushey and Watford, with queues stretching back to the M1 roundabout earlier today.

There are also temporary lights in Lower High Street near Bushey Arches, which is causing extra delays.
Hertfordshire Highways has reported current hour delays on the A4125 Hampermill Ln/Eastbury Rd eastbound and A4008 Stephenson Way/Waterfields Way southbound.
Buses are also being affected. Uno have reported that the 602 route between Radlett and Watford is facing delays of 30 minutes.
