Children studying cookery will benefit from a new oven after a rotary club has presented a school with a cheque for £300.

Rotary Club of Edgware and Stanmore president Danielle Benson and member Anna-Sophia Chapman handed the cheque and a plaque to Mr Lumley and Ms Attfield, head of the design and technology department at Park High School in Stanmore.

A new cooker, which the school plans to use in future cooking competitions, will be bought for the food rooms with the money.

Park High School student Shaima Abduirahman has won the North West London heat of the Rotary Club’s Young Chef competition.

Judges taste buds tingled after sampling her spinach and ricotta ravioli with tomato sauce, and cocoa, yoghurt and beetroot cake which followed.

Edgware and Stanmore Rotary Club was established in 1930.
