A rising footballing star has received a major break after signing a deal to play in the USA.

Reuben Rabstein, a Year 13 pupil at Immanuel College in Bushey, will play for college side, the Riverhawks, at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.

He will play in division II after confirming the move as part of National Letter of Intent Signing Day (NLI) which takes place across the USA.

Reuben started playing football at the age of six for Maccabi London Lions FC. He has represented Great Britain in the European Maccabi Games, winning a gold medal, and was then selected to join team GB at the Maccabiah Games in Israel last summer. Reuben joined Wingate and Finchley FC in August 2017, playing for the U23s and the first team before he was scouted for Yeovil Town FC, where he played his first professional match against Portsmouth Under 18s.

Reuben, who plays as a goalkeeper, will join the Riverhawks in August.

He said: ā€œIā€™m really excited to be joining the Riverhawks because of the fresh and exciting programme they have. Coaches and players care about each other and embody the Oklahoma spirit. I am delighted to be studying abroad and am looking forward to immersing myself in the sports culture that is so profound in American society.ā€
