Bright Light Bright Light from their tour with Erasure to play a special Fightback Fundraising Event in St Albans.

The band is made of the moniker of Welsh born but London and New York based Rod Thomas, whose albums to date include Make Me Believe In Hope (2012) and Life Is Easy (2014).

St Albans & Harpenden Review:

Rod has toured in the past opening for Ellie Goulding, Erasure and Scissor Sisters. Pet Shop Boys themselves praised his cover of West End Girls recorded with Scissor Sister Ana Matronic for US charity Hetrick-Martin.

He has even worked with the legendary Elton John, who joined Rod on duet I Wish We Were Leaving which features on second album Life Is Easy, and signed him up as the support act for his world tour 2014 to 2015 for 55 live dates .

As a DJ he has worked at Ministry Of Sound, Butt Magazine, Glastonbury, Bestival, Festival No.6 and numerous Pride events.

Choreography, his third album release, ups the game even more as alongside Sir Elton John, it has a cast of Alan Cumming, all Scissor Sisters members (Jake Shears, Ana Matronic, Del Marquis & Babydaddy) and The Wiz Live star Mykal Kilgore. The album is inspired by his love of cinema, dancing and classic songwriting.

He created the album’s visuals in collaboration with Steven Hoggett - award winning choreographer for Once, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - in a series of videos, the first of which is for lead single All In The Name which debuted live on Graham Norton.

His show at the Horn in St Albans on March 15 will be supported by Tarantina, a self-taught singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and videographer who creates dark polished pop within the confines of her home studio.

Her first track, I Am A Loner was picked up by bloggers after being anonymously uploaded to Soundcloud. The song has now received over 94,000 plays.

This accidental success sparked an intense period of hibernation, the result of which is Teething.

Tarantina blends fine art processes and pop culture with a DIY aesthetic to make accompanying videos akin to moving pieces of audiovisual art. Raised between two juxtaposing worlds, her mother’s house filled with Portishead and Massive Attack, and the home of her father with Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, Tarantina is a product of these opposing influences with a staunchly avant-garde twist.
