A high street has been closed after a "serious accident".

A pedestrian is believed to have been injured at the junction of Market Street and High Street, Watford.


Watford BID tweeted that the road had been closed due to a "serious accident".

The incident happened outside Moss Brothers and Nat West.

A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly before 1.10pm on Monday, March 12 to report a road traffic collision in High Street, Watford, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

"Officers are currently at the scene along with the ambulance service.

"There are currently road closures on the High Street at the junctions with Market Street and Church Street. These are likely to be in place untilat least the early evening.

"We politely ask the public to avoid the area at this time while we work at the scene with our emergency service colleagues."

Sergeant Martin Kemp, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, is appealing for witnesses to the incident.
