A whole host of celebrities will make their way to Watford in May for a charity football match at Vicarage Road Stadium.

They will be joined on the pitch by Watford FC legends to celebrate the 25th Year Anniversary of Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust (Watford FC’s CSE Trust), whilst also raising vital funds for the registered charity.

Leading the way of the legends is former England player Luther Blissett, with the remaining names yet to be announced. While playing for The Hornets he helped the team win promotion from the Fourth Division to the First Division.

In 2010 he held Watford’s all-time records for appearances and goals, he played 503 games and scored 186 goals.

Stars include Rudimental, Jake Wood, Shayne Ward, Danny Jones, James Argent, Chris Hughes, Lee Latchford-Evans, Dan Edgar, Antony Costa, Simon Webbe, Lee Ryan, Dan Osborne, Jeff Brazier, Jamie Borthwick and Danny Boy Hatchard, Jamie O’Hara, Dean Gaffney, Liam Gattsby, Jimmy Constable, Alex Beattie and Calum Best.

Calum, son of Northern Irish footballer George Best, has appeared on numerous TV shows over many years. He made somewhat of a name for himself in 2006 on ITV’s Celebrity Love Island.

He appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015, returning two year’s later alongside his mother, Angie Best.

Most recently he was seen looking for love on the Channel 4 programme Celeb’s Go Dating.

I spoke to Calum Best to find out more about him and why he’s getting involved in May…

Watford Observer:

Are you excited about the event?

Yes looking forward myself and all the boys / girls love playing at great grounds for amazing charities. I’m competitive so myself and my team are coming to win! I’ll be at the back keeping the old Watford pros from scoring! Which won’t work…

Who are you hoping is on your team?

Harvey, Dean Edwards, Dan Osbourne… All great players.

If you could choose one person in the world to play alongside, who would it be?

I’d choose my dad of course, pure class.

You’ve appeared on many TV shows, which is your favourite and why?

My favourite was Love Island in 2003 as I was young and single living on an island in Fiji with gorgeous girls and friends.

You spent some time out of the spotlight prior to Celebrity Big Brother in 2015, what were you up to?

I was working on bettering myself and my health and growing my business the best me life, journals on productivity and mindfulness.

What was it like appearing on Celebrity Big Brother with your mum last year?

Haha it was a shock as she kept it secret, but great experience to do together as we’re close. But no one wants to be locked down in a house with their mom for a month, especially a 37-year-old man.

You’ve been on Celeb Love Island and Celebs go Dating, how did the two experiences differ?

Both had similar concepts but for one I was carefree and one I was looking for a Mrs, neither worked.
